DATES OF OPERATION
June - September and January - March

Find yourself at Murchison Falls in western Uganda, battling the fury of a monster Nile perch, on a remote stretch of one of Africa’s wildest rivers. While Uganda is best known for its mountain gorillas, this stunningly beautiful country also offers some of the most exhilarating freshwater sport fishing on the African continent. The upper reaches of Africa’s largest river, the Nile, are forced through a six meter wide fissure in the rock before tumbling 130 feet into a chasm below. At the foot of the waterfall, giant circulating cauldrons swirl, providing a home to some of Africa’s largest freshwater game fish, the Nile perch. These deep cauldrons concentrate massive perch, exceeding 200 pounds, as they tuck into the shade of thick churned up foam to ambush smaller fish.

Below the gorge the river widens, providing miles of pristine fishing water as it lazily continues on its journey to Lake Albert approximately 18 miles downstream. Between the gorge and Lake Albert, the river exposes large sandbanks, papyrus lined channels and is comes to life with hippopotamus and huge crocodiles.
