Located on a quiet mountain lake in the Alaska Range, the Tordrillo Mountain Lodge offers deluxe accommodations, gourmet dining and a peaceful, picturesque atmosphere combined with some of the finest adventure activities for all ages and abilities found anywhere in Alaska. The lodges’ unique proximity to amazing mountain terrain is a springboard to a variety of helicopter-assisted guided hiking, glacier exploring and complete immersion in the wilds of Alaska.
On arrival to either Anchorage or Talkeetna, Alaska, EpicQuest guides meet you for the floatplane flight to the Tordrillo Mountain Lodge. From the flight take in views of active volcanoes, Mt. McKinley and Denali National Park, several major mountain ranges including the Tordrillo and Aleutian Ranges, and the cityscape of Anchorage surrounded by rugged peaks and a stunning backdrop.
From the headwaters of the Talachulitna River to the Talkeetna River and the lakes and creeks in between, the Tordrillos are the base of choice for anglers in search of world-class fishing. The Talachulitna River drainage and other surrounding rivers are teeming with Sockeye salmon, Coho salmon, late King salmon, Dolly Vardon and trophy sized rainbow trout. Our helicopter drops you and your guide off in secluded creek-carved canyons with rafts or inflatable kayaks, allowing you to navigate the creeks at your own pace and fish the areas that prove to be red hot with a heli-pickup back to the lodge. Or utilize the chopper for the day and hop from hole-to-hole in search of the very best fishing action.
The King salmon returns in these waters are consistent year after year. The average size of these fish is 30-pounds (14 kg), but a 50-pound (23 kg) catch is not unusual. When you’re not out in the helicopter, Rainbow, Char and five species of salmon are available out the front door of the Lodge. Although fishing skills are helpful, prior experience is not critical. Our guides will assist you with fishing techniques.
