Mike Rheam makes an annual pilgrimage from Jackson Hole, Wyoming to join Chugach Powder Guides in Alaska. While not in Alaska, Mike Rheam is an avalanche forecaster in Jackson Hole. He works in the Ski Patrol's snow safety team, assessing the weather and avalanche hazards as well as mitigating these hazards within the JH Mountain Resort. He also works for the Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center(USFS) providing daily avalanche hazard bulletins for backcountry skiers and snowmobilers in Western Wyoming (www.jhavalanche.org). He has been very active in developing and teaching big mountain snowmobile avalanche guide programs. Mike's Alaska experience goes back to the mid nineties during the early heli years of Thompson Pass in Valdez where he helped pioneer some of the first real heli-skiing in Alaska.
In the summer Mike's fly-fishing company (Grand Fishing Adventures) has grown to become possibly the best guide service in Jackson Hole although he still finds time to return to CPG to guide during the KINGS and CORN season where both passions co-exist.
His most cherished times are those he spends with his wife Jamie Mack and daughter Emery who are both better skiers than he is.
