Lel Tone grew up in Switzerland and started her skiing career in the Alps at the age of three. She ski raced during her college years in Vermont and even had a short stint competing in Extreme competitions when she moved to Squaw Valley in 1993. Lel has been a member of the Squaw Valley ski patrol for the past 13 winters and as of 2 years ago became the Assistant avalanche forcaster there.
Lel has been guiding in the Chugach for the last 9 years, 8 of which with Chugach Powder Guides. Lel holds her Blasters Licence and is an Avalanche control route leader at Squaw. She has her Level 1,2,and 3 avalanche certifications and is a certified AIARE instructor, and in her spare time teaches avalanche courses in her community. She has been an EMT since 1989 and a member of the American Association of Avalanche Proffesionals for the last 9 years.
Although most of the year you can find her trail running and mt. biking in Lake Tahoe where she makes her home with her husband Tom and their 130 lb. Akita Kodi, she has fallen hopelesly in love with Alaska and is looking forward to sharing it with you.
