JON HUNT grew up skiing in the Tetons in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He was a pioneer in backcountry skiing there. His passion for skiing is huge and took him to Valdez, Alaska in 1992, where he won the World Extreme Skiing Championships.
The vast and limitless terrain of the Chugach thrilled Jon, and he made first descents of many of the now famous peaks in that range. He returned to Valdez in 1993 to heli-ski, and when guided operations sprung up, he became a lead guide for Alaska Backcountry Adventures, and was a sought after guide from 1995 to 2001. Then he had a child and is just now is ready to leave home and guide again. While raising his toddler, he continued skiing the Teton range as much as possible and climbed and skied the Grand Teton in 2004.
He is very excited to join the crew at Chugach Powder Guides, and looks forward to sharing Chugach powder with his clients.
