John spends winters and summers leading skiers and cyclists high into the mountains of the western United States.  For ten years John has led trips for Western Spirit Cycling and Lizard Head Cycling where he fulfills his passion for exploration through the creation of one-a-kind cycling itineraries. He has also worked with Telluride Helitrax, a heliskiing company, where he was a lead guide and Program Director.

John is the manager of Epic Cycling’s North American tours.   

John hobbies include photography, diaper changing, and attempting to grow vegetables at his home near 10,000 feet in Ophir, Colorado where he lives with his wife Elizabeth and two young sons Marshall and Ellis.

• Senior guide for Western Spirit Cycling and owner of Lizard Head Cycling
• Explored and created new mountain bike itineraries on the Colorado Trail
• Developed new heliski terrain and acquired multi-year heliski permits in the Silverton, Colorado area
• Top ten finish in the 2004 Trans-Rockies mountain bike stage race
• Completion of ski traverses in the Weminuche, Les Alps, and Columbia Mountains
• Professional member of the American Avalanche Association
