JIMBO COLLINS

BIO

Jim Collins was born in Berkeley California where he attended the University of California at Berkeley graduating with a BA from the department of South and Southeast Asian Studies.

Living in Jackson Hole since 1990, Jim has worked as a Backcountry Guide and PSIA Level III instructor for the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort since 1992. He has worked as a coach and guide for many programs there including the race camp with Pepi Stiegler and Tommy Moe and the Steep and Deep Camps started by Doug Coombs.

At the end of Jackson's epic Winter of '96, Jim traveled to Valdez Alaska and began working for for Valdez Heli-ski Guides, then owned by Doug and Emily Coombs. In 2001 Jim began guiding for Alaska Rendezvous Guides off and on over the next 7 years. Late Winter 2008 begins a new guiding position at Chugach Powder Guides in Girdwood Alaska.

In 2002 Jim began living part of the year in Moab Utah, where his wife Aimee Barnes operates the Moab satellite office of Jackson Hole Mountain Guides and works as a climbing guide for Sawtooth Mountain guides, Jackson Hole Mountain Guides and as a Backcountry Ski Guide for the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

Jim has also worked as a divemaster and both a PADI and NAUI Dive instructor for Ocean Divers International in Cape Town and Koh Samui Divers (now Samui International Diving School) in Thailand. He has also worked as an instructor in Fiji and the Solomon Islands.
