Pam Fletcher is a 1988 Olympian. A ten-year U.S. Ski Team veteran, she captured six U.S. National titles and a gold medal at the 1986 World Cup Downhill in Vail, Colorado. At the 1988 Olympics in Calgary, she was “America’s most likely candidate for a medal in Alpine skiing“, until a freak accident shattered her leg and her Olympic dreams. Though she did not return from those Games with a medal, the U.S. Ski Writer’s Association awarded her the title of “Outstanding Competitor of the Year“, for her courage and sportsmanship.
Fletcher’s debut in broadcasting came in 1988 with Bob Beattie on ESPN as an analyst for World Cup skiing. She covered the Olympic Men’s and Women’s Alpine Skiing events for Turner Broadcasting in both Albertville and Lillehammer. In addition, she covered skiing events for 16 years for various networks including: ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX Sports, RSN, NESN, NECN, and the Outdoor Life Network (now Versus). Fletcher was a color analyst and an active reporter for the Outdoor Life Network contributing athlete profiles, interviews, travel and lifestyle features for the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup coverage, the Tour de France and the Winter Sports Zone. Currently, Fletcher is the host of New England Living, a travel/lifestyle/magazine program, which aired on the WB, WSBK, in Boston and Cox Sports in RI and CT. Fletcher still actively works freelance on a variety of Alpine Skiing, Lifestyle, and Outdoor Adventure programming.
