Kurt Troyer was born in Michigan and raised in Colorado. He started skiing at age 12, and became a full-time ski bum eight years later. Kurt worked as a liftie and ski patroller at Keystone/ A-Basin, then moved to Alaska in 1995.
Troyer was a professional ski patroller at Alyeska Resort for six years, and also volunteered at the Girdwood Fire Department for seven years. Now he spends his winters guiding for CPG and coaching young skiers for the Alyeska Ski Club.
During the summer, Kurt works as a heavy equipment operator in Anchorage.
